Wakeful Nature was founded by Johannah Reimer in 2016 in Boulder, Colorado, USA. The organization offers programs designed to enrich tweens and teens’ social and emotional lives by providing a safe container for them to connect with their peers and explore who they are and their place in the world. Through ongoing mentorship in intimate groups, they use the age-old wisdom of the natural world, expressive arts, and council to ground young girls in trust and authenticity as they dive deep into the mysteries of their changing body, heart, mind, and soul.
Wakeful Nature is led by educators and ceremonialists trained in soul-centric human development, SomaSource inspired rites of passage, and wilderness education. Their work is blessed and guided by the wisdom of their elders including Sage Hamilton and Melissa Michaels.
Wakeful Nature currently works with 30 girls between the ages of 10-17 on a weekly and monthly basis. Wakeful Nature is unique in offering truly long-term, not short-one-time or even year-long, programming. This allows the leaders to track the youth throughout their adolescence and to support them with all the changes that come with it.
“Golden Girls Global has helped connect my work to the larger body of "girls work" happening in different communities throughout the world. I have been fortunate to have mentorship and group dynamic/embodiment tools through SomaSource as well.” ~ Johannah Reimer, Director and Girls Group Leader
